The courage of a dreamer
Papa Ge is supposed to have courage, and yet when he's around her, his knees shake. And its ironic about the dreamer part, since he can never sleep at night.
The innocence of youth
When they were young gods, maybe, before they even knew what they were gods of. Maybe then she would have fallen for him. But Love and Death don't mix.
The failures and the foolishness
That lead us to the truth
Papa Ge failed many times, because he was foolish. And still, no truth from the beautiful Erzulie.
The hopes that make us happy
The hopes that don't come true
Papa Ge's hopes used to make him happy. Not anymore. Now they just hurt. His hopes never came true.
And all the love there ever was
I see this all in you
Erzulie was not singing her song for Papa Ge. He didn't know, or care who she was singing it for. He was too miserable. He had all the love there ever was but she would never see it. She couldn't possibly look at him and see all that love he had for her. He was not a lover in her eyes. She looked at him and saw a killer.
