Untitled. A "Clash of the Titans" Fanfic.

They didn’t need a bed; the clouds surrounding Mount Olympus were just as soft. Using the clouds had an added bonus of obscuring their naked bodies from the view of other prying gods and goddesses.
Despite the dim light, her hair still shimmered brightly, so brightly that he was worried that they might be spotted, but he could not bring himself to care – not now, at least, not now when her slender body was resting against his.
Thetis turned in his arms, her blue eyes shining as she looked up at him. He ran his thumb down the side of her cheek.
“We can’t let Hera find out about us,” she said quietly. He nodded, kissing her lips lightly.
“We can be careful,” he replied, his lips moving against hers. She let out a soft half-sigh as he ran his hands down her sides.
“Zeus...” she moaned. “Oh, Zeus...”
“Thetis...”
She was wonderful, he thought afterwards, her vivacity, her wit, her beauty – and she was beautiful, the most beautiful of all the goddesses.
He sat up straight – he had heard someone call his name. “I must go,” he said, getting dressed. She watched his glorious form be covered once more by his robes.
“I’ll see you soon, my dear,” he said, running his eyes appreciatively over her figure one final time. She smiled up at him.
“All right,” she replied. She waited until he had left to gather her clothes together.

She slipped into the water, diving into the ocean. The water caressed her skin as she swam, her red hair trailing behind her. She emerged from the ocean, floating on her back, and closed her eyes.
“I hope you’re thinking of me, my dear,” she heard Zeus say.
“Who else?” she replied, her eyes still closed. She felt him swim closer to her, felt him touch her cheek lightly, and she opened her eyes, smiling up at him.
“Hera’s away for a while,” he said, “visiting her temples.”
“However will you manage without her?” she asked him, laughing slightly.
“I think you could be of some assistance there, my dear,” he replied. She allowed him to draw her into a deep kiss.

“I’m pregnant,” she said, her eyes worried. He was sitting on a pile of cushions in the depths of Olympus, drinking ambrosia. The delicate golden goblet fell to the ground, slipping through suddenly nerveless fingers, hitting the marble floor with a loud clang.
“What?”
“I’m sorry, Zeus,” she said, her eyes filling with tears. He studied her closely, noticing her slightly rounded figure, the way she filled out her robes. “What am I to do?”
“You’ll go into seclusion until the baby’s born, then give the child to one of your priests to raise,” he commanded.
Tears spilled down her cheeks. “All right,” she agreed, knowing it was for the best. After all, a goddess of her stature could not raise a child, though she wanted to. Oh, their baby would be marvellous – the child of the King of the Gods. Whether male or female, their babe would be one of the most remarkable gods ever.
“I’ll leave now,” she said. He shook his head, taking her hand and drawing her closer to him, pulling her down on the cushions beside him. He placed his hand lightly on her curved abdomen, resting his forehead against hers.
“Not yet,” he whispered, pulling her closer to him. “Not yet.”

She waited patiently for their baby to be born, whiling away the days by herself on the secluded isle of Illyria. She and Zeus had agreed that he would not visit her while she was in seclusion. So she waited, alone, for their child.

Every day they were separated, Zeus thought of Thetis, wondered how she was. Obviously, childbirth for her did not have the dangers that it had for mortals, but he was worried nonetheless. He wanted to be there with her, but he had his duties, and he did not want Hera to know that he had fathered Thetis’s child. That did not mean that he would not worry about her.

She returned to Olympus six months later, after giving birth to a son. Zeus called her into his inner chamber as soon as she returned.
“His name is Archelaos,” she said, her eyes fixed on the marble floor, “and he is being raised by my priests at Joppa.”
“Thetis,” he whispered, and she looked up at him. He beckoned to her and she stepped closer. Zeus took her hand in his and pulled her down next to him.
“Zeus...”
“I’ve missed you,” he said simply, burying his nose in her hair, holding her close. She sighed, embracing him.
“I’ve missed you too,” she whispered, and he tilted her chin up so that he could kiss her lips.
“My Thetis,” he whispered, “my love.”
She closed her eyes as he kissed her again.
