Author's Note: This is before Darth Vader knows about Leia, and obviously before he becomes Anakin agian.

I'll always remember
It was late afternoon
Darth Vader stared at the second Death Star. It was hopeless. It had to be. He could never return to the good side. Right? But evil could feel no love...
It's so...ugly. I remember going to Naboo for the first time. It was so beautiful. Everything was so perfect there. It was the one place that remained untouched by the war. Well, looked untouched anyway. The Death Star could rip every shred of beauty in a person's world and turn it into a blob of hatred.
I remember being Anakin Skywalker. It was great. I remember when the Emperor declared me Darth Vader.
It lasted forever
And ended so soon
I remember burning. Of course I remember burning. How could I forget? I have to wear this stupid suit because of it. I'm sick of being feared.
You were all by yourself
Staring up at a dark gray sky
When the Emperor told me that I had killed Padme...let's not go there again. But Luke...if Luke is alive, is there hope yet for Padme? And is there hope for me yet?
Darth Vader rushed to the first TIE fighter on deck and boarded it. He headed in the general direction of Naboo. He knew the fighter couldn't make it alone, but with the Force to help...he should make it. He knew the Emperor would know he had left, would know where he was going, but he didn't care.
I
was
changed
It took a while to get to Naboo, even with the hyperdrive enabled, because the Imperial base was so far away, and the TIE fighter was so small. But, finally, as Vader pulled out of hyperspace, the little blue-green planet was on his viewscreen.
Padme. I will see you again. I'm sorry for all my broken promises. I will find you here.
I remember first meeting her on that rock of a homeworld, Tatooine. She was so beautiful, even at fourteen. I was nine...the first nine year old I've ever met to fall in love.
In places no one will find
All your feelings so deep inside
Darth Vader had planned on landing as close to where he remembered her house being as possible. Then he realized something. People would see him and shoot. So he landed in a forest, hidden, until nightfall. Then, he snuck out and began his search.
When he reached her old house, he stopped and stared for a moment. A very long moment.
I remember coming here when I had been assigned to protect her. Her family thought we were together. Which we weren't, unfortunately, at the time. She was twenty-five, I had just turned twenty. It was the same year that we got married.
He stepped up to the front porch and rang the doorbell. A tired looking woman answered it.
"Oh my gosh! You--you need to go! You can't be here...what do you want with us?!?" Sola Naberrie, Padme's sister, exclaimed.
"I just wanted to see if Padme still lived here..." Vader said, realizing how frightening his voice must sound.
The look on Sola's face said everything Vader did not want to hear.
"How dare you come back here?!? LEAVE! NOW!" she screamed at him.
It was there that I realized
That forever was in your eyes
Vader turned his back slowly on the only place that had hope for him. Without love, he was lost to the Dark Side forever.
I remember the look on Padme's face when I told her I knew how to save her. She told me all she needed was my love. She looked like she meant it. But how could love possibly keep her alive?
I remember the look on her face when I turned to the Dark Side. She had said I was a good person. She wanted me to run away with her. I should have accepted that offer when I had the chance. I want more than anything to run away now.
She had begged me to come back. She cried so hard. I even felt her reach out in the Force. For a minute, it worked...but only a minute. Then I strangled her. I wish I could prolong that minute to be forever.
The moment I saw you cry
